MICHIGAN CIVIL DEFENSE MUSEUM

Ottawa County 1960's EOC

Ottawa County Civil Defense Emergency Operations Center,

in Holland Township

Originally just the underground part, later the above part was

added and used as the Office of Civil Defense for Ottawa County

This Facility is now being used for storage

Thanks again to

Bill Smith, Ottawa County Emergency Managment

for giving me a tour of this EOC

First thing to greet you before entering is this item poking out of the ground.

The is the CD V-711 Probe for the CD V-711 Meter that is inside the EOC.

This is one of only 4 that were issued in the state.

This Probe was designed to withstand blast pressures.

Upon entering, you can go left and into the office or you can go down to the EOC

The steps are a bit steep.

Making a left turn, takes you into the EOC

The Red square on the wall is a Fire/Emergency Exit.

That takes you outside. A photo of the Hatch is further down the page.

A unique Fallout Shelter Decal is on the door here.

I was told there was alot of Fallout Shelter supplies stored here.

All that is left is a empty can of Carbohydrate Supplement, some cups and spoons

In the background is a booth marked EBS for Emergency Broadcast System,

and just across from that is the bathroom.

It was taken down a long time ago.

Refurbished and is now used by another community
